Eskom will kick off the week of Monday, 10 April 2023, with suspended loadshedding, raising hopes of reduced rotational power outages.

UPDATE: On Wednesday, 12 April 2022, Eskom confirmed loadshedding will rotate between Stage 6 during evening peaks and Stage 5 from 05:00 until 16:00 until further notice, “due to a shortage in generation capacity.”

As of Wednesday, 12 April 2023, breakdowns amounted to:

  • 16 772MW –up 1 832MW from Monday, 10 April 2023
  • 5 807MW –down 1 408MW from Monday, 10 April 2023

See the updated loadshedding schedule below.

UPDATE: On Monday, 10 April 2023, Eskom confirmed loadshedding would rise to Stage 3 from 17:00 until Tuesday late afternoon. Thereafter, rolling blackouts will increase to Stage 5 for the evening peak period before outages drop back to Stage 3 on the morning of Wednesday, 12 April 2023.

The national electricity supplier explained the decision to increase loadshedding, despite lower breakdowns since the last report (see below), was in anticipation of “the expected increase in demand after the Easter weekend.”
