Global pop star Taylor Swift and NFL player Travis Kelce are officially engaged.
Taylor Swift confirms engagement to Travis Kelce
The couple, both 35, revealed the news on Sunday, 24 August 2025, with a series of photos showing Kelce proposing in a rose garden. Swift captioned the post with humour, writing: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
The singer also unveiled her large diamond engagement ring in the images, which she shared on Instagram alongside her love song So High School.

The love story behind the engagement
According to media reports, the engagement comes after a two-year romance that began publicly in September 2023. That month, Swift was spotted at a Kansas City Chiefs game, sitting with Kelce’s mother, Donna, and supporting him from the stands.
Since then, their relationship has become one of the most talked about celebrity pairings. Swift has cheered on Kelce during two Super Bowl runs, while he has traveled around the world to watch her Eras Tour performances.
The proposal itself was described as intimate and emotional. Swift was visibly tearful as Kelce got down on one knee in a rose-filled garden. The photos show the couple celebrating with champagne, with Swift leaning into her fiancé as they shared the moment privately before making it public.
Kelce’s close friend and teammate Patrick Mahomes quickly reacted to the news, reposting Swift’s announcement with heart emojis.
Before dating Kelce, Swift was in a six-year relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn. Her romance with Kelce, however, unfolded in the public eye from the very beginning.
Kelce first expressed interest in Swift in July 2023 after attending one of her concerts and attempting to give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it. Although she didn’t meet him at the time, Swift later said she admired his persistence and compared him to a character in a John Hughes movie.
By September 2023, she confirmed her feelings by appearing at an NFL game, and one month later, the pair arrived hand in hand at the Saturday Night Live afterparty. Since then, their relationship has only grown stronger.
