Pluribus, the new science fiction drama from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul creator Vince Gilligan, premiered on Friday, 7 November 2025, on Apple TV.
The series marks Gilligan’s long-anticipated return to television, debuting with its first two episodes — “We Is Us” and “Pirate Lady” — now available to stream.
Pluribus stars Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka, a historical romance author who discovers she is one of only 11 people in the world immune to a mysterious virus that transforms the rest of humanity into uniformly content, compliant citizens.
The story is set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and combines elements of dystopian fiction, psychological drama, and moral conflict.
The show reunites Seehorn and Gilligan after their acclaimed collaboration on Better Call Saul.
Gilligan, who serves as showrunner and executive producer, described Pluribus as a departure from his past crime-centered storytelling.
He reportedly conceived the concept after growing “weary of writing bad guys” and wanted to focus instead on flawed but fundamentally good characters.
The ensemble cast includes Karolina Wydra as Zosia and Carlos Manuel Vesga as Manousos, with guest appearances from Miriam Shor and Samba Schutte.
Music for the series is composed by Dave Porter, who also scored Breaking Badand Better Call Saul.
Production on Pluribus began in February 2024 and wrapped in September 2024 after a seven-month shoot in Albuquerque.
The series was affected by the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike, which briefly delayed filming.
Apple TV ordered two seasons of the show in advance, underscoring its confidence in the project’s creative potential.
An advance screening of the first two episodes was held in New York City on 10 October 2025, followed by a premiere event in Los Angeles earlier this week.
The show has already drawn widespread critical acclaim, holding a 100% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 27 reviews, and an 85/100 score on Metacritic, indicating “universal acclaim”.
New episodes of Pluribus will be released weekly on Fridays through 26 December 2025, exclusively on Apple TV.
