Music producer Metro Boomin, real name Leland Tyler Wayne, has been found not liable in a civil trial where he was accused of sexually assaulting a woman in 2016.
Metro Boomin sexual assault charge thrown out of court
A federal jury in Los Angeles reached its decision on Thursday, 25 September 2025, after about an hour of deliberations.
The jury of eight rejected all four claims against the 32-year-old producer, which included common law battery, sexual battery, and two alleged violations of California’s anti-gender violence law, per reports from Meghann Cunnif.
Outside court, Metro said he was relieved:
“I’m blessed and glad the truth prevailed. It’s a burden lifted,” he told reporters.
He added that while he never feared the outcome, the process had been frustrating:
“It’s just a shame that they waste my time, everybody else’s time, the jury’s time.”
One juror later explained the decision, saying there was “no substantial evidence” beyond testimony.
What happened in court?
The case was brought by Vanessa LeMaistre, who accused Metro Boomin of assaulting her in a Beverly Hills hotel room nearly a decade ago.
She testified that she realised she should sue him during a therapy session in 2024 while under the influence of the psychedelic plant Ayahuasca.
LeMaistre, who also works as a self-described spiritual medium claiming to “speak with the dead,” was the only witness for her side. She alleged she had been impregnated by Metro and accused him of trying to cover up the assault.
Metro denied the allegations, insisting that their encounters were consensual. His legal team presented evidence that LeMaistre had previously told clinic workers she was not assaulted and later tried to alter those records.
Professor April Thames, chief of psychology at UCLA, also testified for the defense, diagnosing LeMaistre with borderline personality disorder with psychotic features, along with depression and PTSD.
After the ruling, Metro posted a tribute to his late mother on Instagram, writing:
“God and My Angel forever behind me. 💜”
The plaintiff’s lawyer, Michael Willemin of Wigdor LLP, said he is seeking a new trial, claiming errors occurred during the proceedings. His firm is known for representing high-profile plaintiffs, including Cassie Ventura in her lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Metro, who had support from fellow rapper Young Thug during the trial, said he now looks forward to returning to family and music.
