Pop icon Katy Perry and former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau were spotted dining together at a fine-dining restaurant in Montreal, fuelling rumours of a potential romance.

Katy Perry, Justin Trudeau dinner date draws attention

According to TMZ, the pair were seen sharing cocktails and dishes at Le Violon, a seafood-focused eatery owned by celebrity chef Danny Smiles.

Photos and video obtained by the outlet show Perry and Trudeau in what appeared to be an intimate conversation at a table for two.

Earlier that same day, they were reportedly seen walking together in Mount Royal Park.

Perry, who is currently on her Lifetimes Tour, had a show scheduled in Ottawa the day after the dinner and will also perform in Montreal and Quebec City later in the week.

The exact reason behind her private dinner with Trudeau remains unknown, but it has generated widespread attention online.

The two arrived quietly at Le Violon on Monday evening and reportedly stayed for around two hours.

Restaurant spokesperson Samantha Jin confirmed that Perry and Trudeau were “kind and warm” to staff and kept mostly to themselves.

“No visual signs of PDA or anything,” Jin added.

Staff at Le Violon respected the pair’s privacy throughout their visit. Neither the employees nor other patrons approached them for autographs or photos. Jin mentioned that both Perry and Trudeau thanked the kitchen team before leaving the restaurant.

Eyewitnesses told TMZ the duo were seen sipping cocktails and trying various shared plates, including a lobster dish. Despite the public interest, there’s no confirmation about the nature of their relationship.

The timing of this interaction has drawn even more curiosity. Perry recently separated from her longtime partner, actor Orlando Bloom. Meanwhile, Trudeau publicly announced his separation from Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage.

This dinner comes just months after reports surfaced that Trudeau is expected to resign as Liberal Party leader in 2025 following internal party pressure and declining support.

His political future remains uncertain as the Canadian federal elections approach in October.
