Singer D4vd is facing intense scrutiny after a shocking discovery in Los Angeles connected him, at least symbolically, to the death of a 15-year-old girl.
D4vd not considered a suspect despite eerie development in death of teen
Police confirmed that the body found inside his Tesla on Monday, 8 September 2025 (16:00 SAST) was that of Celeste Rivas, who had been missing for over a year.
What made the case especially unsettling is that both Celeste and D4vd had the exact same tattoo — the word “Shhh…”inked on their right index fingers.
Celeste’s mother told TMZ that her daughter’s tattoo was done in red ink, and she became immediately suspicious when she learned of the Tesla link because her daughter’s boyfriend’s name was also David.
TMZ reviewed old photographs of D4vd and confirmed he did not have the tattoo earlier in 2024. The first public image showing it appeared only in September of that year.
Despite the eerie connection, police have stated that D4vd is not currently a suspect. Officers also clarified that he had been on tour and had not been in Los Angeles for more than a month before the Tesla was found.
Investigators have not revealed who last drove or parked the vehicle, which was impounded after being abandoned on a Hollywood street.
When contacted, D4vd’s representatives declined to comment, saying they did not want to interfere with the ongoing investigation.
Who is D4vd?
David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4vd (pronounced David), is an American singer and songwriter born on 28 March 2005 in Queens, New York, before later moving with his family to Houston, Texas.
D4vd first rose to fame in 2022 when his singles Here with Me and Romantic Homicide went viral on TikTok, leading him to sign with Darkroom and Interscope Records.
His music, blending emotional lyrics with lo-fi production, has earned him a strong following among Gen Z fans.
By 2025, he had released his debut album Withered, following a string of popular singles such as Feel It. His style, often described as moody and deeply personal, has placed him among the rising stars of alternative and indie pop.
Until now, D4vd’s public image has largely been shaped by his music and artistry. But with his name now linked to the discovery of Celeste Rivas’s body, speculation and rumours online have exploded, even though police have stressed that no evidence ties him directly to the teen’s death.
For now, the case remains under active investigation, and questions about the Tesla, the tattoo coincidence, and who was last in control of the vehicle remain unanswered.
