Day 6 of the trial against Sean “Diddy” Combs will resume with the testimony of Dawn Richard, the former member of the girl group Danity Kane, who is set to take the witness stand.
What to expect from Day 6 of the Diddy trial
Her appearance follows five days of emotionally charged testimonies, most notably from Cassie Ventura, who alleges years of abuse and control by Combs.
Richard, who was closely associated with Combs through the reality show Making the Band, is expected to speak about her time under Bad Boy Records and her personal observations during her professional relationship with the music mogul.
While the exact scope of her testimony remains under seal, it is expected to touch on the culture within Combs’ circle during the height of Danity Kane’s fame.
Also expected today are potential rebuttals by the prosecution addressing contradictions raised by the defence during their cross-examination of Ventura.
What the court has heard thus far
Day 1 began with jury selection and opening statements. Prosecutors framed Combs as the architect of a pattern of coercion and control. Defence counsel painted the case as opportunistic and based on discredited claims.
Day 2 featured emotional testimony from Daniel Phillip, a male revue manager, who claimed he was paid to perform sex acts with Cassie—allegedly at Combs’ request.
He described being contacted by Combs’ assistants and recounted being filmed without his consent.
Day 3 was dominated by Ventura’s testimony. She detailed an abusive relationship with Combs, citing multiple instances of physical violence and describing how Combs allegedly maintained surveillance of her.
She recounted an incident where Combs brandished a gun after seeing Suge Knight at a club, which she described as a turning point in their relationship.
The fourth day involved cross-examination of Ventura by Combs’ legal team. They focused on inconsistencies in her statements, her continued relationship with Combs after the alleged abuse, and presented text messages showing ongoing communication between them after key incidents.
Day 5 continued the cross-examination. Ventura was questioned about her motives and credibility, including discussions about her career ambitions. Court concluded with the prosecution announcing Dawn Richard as the next witness to be called.
