Comedian Andy Dick says he is “alive and okay” after footage of him lying unresponsive on a staircase in Hollywood sparked fears of an apparent overdose and spread widely online.

According to TMZ, the 59-year-old was filmed slumped on concrete steps outside a building in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon, wearing a brown jacket, pajama pants and Crocs, with his glasses on the ground beside him.

Video shows frantic effort to wake Andy Dick

Images and video from the scene show people believed to be his friends trying to prop him up and shouting at him to “wake up” as he lay limp on the steps. Other bystanders can be heard calling for an ambulance.

One witness shouted for Narcan, a fast-acting medication used to reverse opioid overdoses. TMZ reported that Narcan was administered at the scene before emergency services arrived.

Andy Dick declines to say what happened

Speaking to TMZ later that evening, Dick declined to explain what had caused the incident but confirmed that he had survived the scare and said he was relieved to be all right.

He reportedly refused transport to hospital after being treated on the street. Authorities in Los Angeles have not publicly disclosed any medical diagnosis or confirmed what triggered the emergency.

Addiction history and past legal trouble

Dick has spoken openly for years about his struggles with substance abuse. In a 2016 interview he said he had been to rehab around 20 times in an effort to deal with alcohol and drug addiction.

The comedian, known for roles in NewsRadio, The Ben Stiller Show and films including Road Trip and Zoolander, has also faced repeated legal problems. In 2022 he was convicted of sexual battery for groping an Uber driver in 2018, sentenced to 90 days in jail and ordered to register as a sex offender.

He was later arrested for public intoxication and failing to register.

He has since faced additional allegations and arrests, including a 2022 felony sexual-battery case that prosecutors later dropped when the accuser stopped cooperating with investigators.

Fans react to latest health scare

News of the incident and the circulating video triggered concern among fans on social media, many referencing Dick’s long public battle with addiction.

His brief update to TMZ that he is “alive and okay” has offered some reassurance, but the footage has renewed questions about his health and ongoing recovery.

Authorities have not announced any further action linked to the episode, and there has been no indication of formal charges related to Tuesday’s events.

For now, the latest scare adds another chapter to Andy Dick’s troubled history, even as the comedian insists he has made it through this incident.
