Schiaparelli opened the 2025 Paris Haute Couture Week with a visually striking presentation that drew gasps and camera flashes.

Schiaparelli fashion show goes viral

Rapper Cardi B set the tone at the entrance of the Petit Palais wearing a sculpted black dress with a high neckline and fringe, while holding a live raven. The scene, both dramatic and surreal, quickly went viral.

Inside, designer Daniel Roseberry unveilled a collection that paid tribute to Schiaparelli’s interwar Surrealist roots, while looking boldly to the future. Titled “Back to the Future,” the line featured dramatic contrasts and metallic finishes.

Roseberry drew inspiration from founder Elsa Schiaparelli’s collaborations with iconic artists such as Jean Cocteau and Salvador Dalí.

The designs reinterpreted archival images into edgy, modern silhouettes.

Silver sequins covered a structured jacket with exaggerated sleeves, while a sheer black tulle cape recreated the 1938 “Apollo of Versailles” piece.

“There’s something about that era that felt mournful and also turbocharged at the same time,” Roseberry told WWD backstage.

One of the most eye-catching looks was a backless black satin gown revealing a sparkling rhinestone thong — a direct nod to Tom Ford’s famous G-string. Other pieces leaned into what Roseberry called “fetish glamour,” including molded breastplates, dominatrix-style bustiers, and accessories like a beating heart-shaped necklace.

Model Anasofia Negrutsa embodied the show’s fusion of science fiction and history in a silver biker jacket with matador shoulders, referencing the aesthetics of films like Blade Runner and Metropolis.

“I wanted it to feel like a bit of a farewell. We’re gonna be restructuring everything after this,” Roseberry said.

“If you want to change the result, you have to change the process.”

What to expect from 2025 Paris Haute Couture Week

The week ahead promises more standout moments. Veteran houses including Giorgio Armani, Elie Saab, Chanel, and Iris Van Herpen are set to unveil their latest collections.

Chanel’s show will be especially watched, as it will be the last in-house presentation before designer Matthieu Blazy takes over in October.

Demna, known for his decade-long tenure at Balenciaga, will stage his final show for the brand on Wednesday.

That same day, Glenn Martens is expected to make his debut at Maison Margiela, following John Galliano’s highly acclaimed 2024 show. Pat McGrath’s doll-like glass skin makeup from that collection became so popular it sparked a consumer beauty line.

Also generating buzz is Jonathan Anderson, who will present a new JW Anderson collection at Galerie Joseph in the Marais.

Having recently debuted at Dior’s men’s show, Anderson hinted he would scale back runway appearances unless he has “something to say within my own brand,” he told WWD.

This condensed schedule is loaded with talent, promising a week of creativity and transformation in haute couture’s capital.
