As Formula One gears up for the Miami Grand Prix, adidas and Mercedes AMG Petronas are launching a new sneaker drop that puts a vibrant spin on a classic silhouette.

The highlight is the updated adidas Superstar, a shoe originally released in the 1970s and known for its shell toe and streetwear influence.

This version comes as part of a new capsule collection between adidas and Mercedes AMG Petronas, who started collaborating after the F1 team ended its partnership with Puma earlier in 2025.

The new Superstar in this collection is coated in a striking all-pink colour, covering every major part of the sneaker—from the laces to the tongue and even the iconic rubber shell toe.

To contrast the bright pink, the Three Stripes branding, tongue tag, and heel come in black. The Mercedes AMG Petronas logo is added to the tongue and heel, with both adidas and Mercedes logos printed inside the sneaker, making it a dual-branded collector’s item.

In South Africa, the adidas Superstar x Mercedes AMG Petronas sneaker is priced at R1,999.00.

This Superstar version isn’t the only shoe in the series—there’s also the Feroza Base Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team sneaker, which is built for comfort with a rubber outsole for better grip and stability.

This one comes in a darker base colour called Core Black, combined with soft mint and metallic accents. It also includes team branding, giving it a motorsport vibe. The design nods to the look of Formula One racing gear while keeping it suitable for everyday use.

The Feroza Base edition comes in slightly lower at R1,599.00.

Both models are part of a limited-time release connected to the Miami race, with stock expected to move quickly.

All sneakers from the capsule follow a Miami Vice-inspired colour theme, which includes bold tones and contrasting dark details, influenced by the high-speed and high-style world of Formula One.

What you must know about ordering online at Adidas and shipping

South African shoppers can get these sneakers directly from the official adidas online store. To place an order, customers need to make sure their delivery address isn’t a PO box, as adidas only ships to physical addresses where someone can sign for the package.

Delivery times vary depending on location. If you live in a major city like Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, or Pretoria, you can expect your order in three to five business days with standard shipping.

Outlying areas could take up to seven days.

Express delivery is available in some areas and can shorten delivery time to two or three days, but this service costs more.

Here’s what to expect in terms of shipping costs:

  • If your total order is over R600, standard delivery is free.
  • For express delivery on orders over R600, you’ll pay R100.
  • If your order total is under R600, standard shipping is R60, and express shipping is R160.

Orders placed before 14:00 on working weekdays are more likely to be processed faster. Deliveries are only made on weekdays between 08:00 and 17:00, so it’s important to plan accordingly.

If a product is out of stock or if there’s a problem with your payment, the order may not go through.

Some remote areas may also face delivery limitations, so checking availability before completing the purchase is important.

Customers who sign up as members on the adidas site can receive a 15% discount, which could apply to purchases from this drop.
