The bout will take place in Saudi Arabia on 21 December 2024, the same location where Usyk secured his historic victory over Fury.
The previous match saw Usyk become the first four-belt undisputed heavyweight champion in boxing history.
The initial encounter between Fury and Usyk was nothing short of electrifying.
Fury began the match showcasing his typical dominance, leveraging his size and strength.
However, as the rounds progressed, Usyk’s technical prowess and stamina began to shine through.
By the ninth round, Usyk had Fury on the ropes, forcing a standing 10 count.
The fight ended with a split decision from the judges. Two scorecards favoured Usyk with scores of 115-112 and 114-113, while the third judge scored it 114-113 in favour of Fury.
This marked Tyson Fury’s first professional loss in his 16-year career, a significant milestone in the heavyweight division.
Despite the loss, Fury expressed strong opinions about the outcome.
He believed he had won the majority of the rounds and suggested that external factors, such as Usyk’s home country being at war, might have influenced the judges’ decision.
“I believe he won a few of the rounds, but I won the majority. His country is at war, so people are siding with the country at war. Make no mistake, I won that fight in my opinion,” Fury stated.
He also criticised the decision, calling it one of the “daftest” in boxing history.
Fury’s disappointment was palpable, but the upcoming rematch provides him with a chance for immediate redemption.
