The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed that the 2025 edition of the PSL Awards will be held on Tuesday, 29 July 2025, starting at 19:00.
The event will be broadcast live on SuperSport PSL Channel and SABC Sport.
This annual ceremony recognises the best players, coaches, and teams from the 2024/25 South African football season across various divisions, including the Betway Premiership, Motsepe Foundation Championship, MTN8, Carling Knockout, Nedbank Cup, and the DStv Diski Challenge.
Three players are in contention for the top honour, Footballer of the Season: Keletso Makgalwa (Sekhukhune United), Relebohile Mofokeng (Orlando Pirates), and Lucas Ribeiro Costa (Mamelodi Sundowns).
These same three players are also up for the Betway Premiership Players’ Player of the Season, a showcase of their standout performances and consistent impact throughout the campaign.
For the Coach of the Season, the nominees are Steve Barker of Stellenbosch FC, Miguel Cardoso of Mamelodi Sundowns, and Jose Riveiro of Orlando Pirates — each having guided their teams through intense competition.
In the category for Young Player of the Season, Malibongwe Khoza (Mamelodi Sundowns), Relebohile Mofokeng, and Mohau Nkota (both Orlando Pirates) have been shortlisted.
The 2025 awards introduce new categories within the Motsepe Foundation Championship, giving more recognition to talent in South Africa’s second-tier league.
Among these are Players’ Player of the Season, Young Player of the Season, and Goalkeeper of the Season.
Nominees also showcase strong performances in the country’s major cup competitions — including the MTN8, Carling Knockout, and Nedbank Cup — with several standout players making appearances in multiple categories.
