Roads to avoid in Johannesburg this weekend
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has issued a warning about possible traffic disruptionsin the Midrand and Kyalami areas.
This is because the DStv Delicious Festival and the Waterfall City Half-Marathon will both take place on Sunday 21 September and affect the same routes, particularly Allandale Road and the R55.
Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe raised concerns that the double booking could cause chaos, but the city confirmed that the marathon will take place in the morning (06:00–09:00 SAST), while the festival will start later in the day.
The JMPD has promised heavy deployment of officers to direct traffic and ensure safety, but attendees are strongly encouraged to arrive early and use alternative routes where possible.
