Cape Town police are investigating the brazen murder of a woman who was targeted by several suspects near a court in Wynberg, on Thursday, 25 May 2023.
Wynberg woman gunned down in broad daylight
In a statement, police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie revealed detectives were still at the crime scene, combing through forensic evidence and interviewing eyewitnesses to build a picture of the gory incident that unravelled on the corners of Church and Broady Roads in Wynberg.
Details are still scarce but from what we understand, the woman, still unidentified at the time of publishing, was walking near the magistrate’s court on Thursday morning when, seemingly out of the blue, she was accosted by two armed gunmen who wasted no time shooting her on sight.
“She succumbed to injury on the scene and was declared as dead by medical personnel.” Lt-Col. Pojie revealed.
The motive for the heinous and brazen murder remains unknown at this time, police confirmed. However, Lt-Col. Pojie explained murder is certainly being considered a point of departure in the investigation.
Elsewhere, Cape Town police stumbled upon a gory scene at a property in Constantia, where four dead bodies were discovered.
According to police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut, police were summoned to the leafy southern suburb at approximately 08:20, after concerned neighbours conducted a welfare check on the property and, much to their horror, discovered the lifeless bodies of two males and two females, aged between 40 and 50, and believed to be Bulgarians, with gunshot wounds.
“The motive for the multiple murders is yet to be determined, with detectives hard at work in search of clues. Serious and Violent Crime detectives have initiated an investigation into the murders,” Col. Traut said in a statement.
At this time, it remains unclear if the two murder scenes situated within close proximity of each other are, in any way, related.
This is a developing story.
