Oratile Keleketu, renowned in Mohlakeng by his pseudonym ‘Ghetto Boy’ was at the cusp of mainstream success in the buzzing Amapiano genre, but, a violent encounter with a murderer robbed him of his chance at stardom.

Who killed Oratile Keleketu?

Social media is abuzz with ‘Justice for Oratile Keleketu’ calls, as the tragic story of the musician’s untimely death continues to unravel. From what we understand, Keleketu was allegedly gutted by his romantic partner at approximately 04:00 on Sunday 12 December 2021.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Kay Makhubele, early investigations into the murder indicate that things got extremely violent between the couple after a heated argument.

Keleketu was rushed to a nearby clinic in the western Johannesburg township but, it was too late as he had lost too much blood.

“Upon arrival, police officers were informed that the victim and his girlfriend had a fight and his girlfriend allegedly stabbed him,” Captain Makhubele revealed.

The girlfriend, believed to be aged 30, was arrested and charged with murder on Sunday afternoon.

What we know about the suspect

The suspect in Keleketu’s murder is known to Swisher Post News. However, due to a number of reasons, including the fact that suspects involved in active criminal cases that have yet to be officially added to a court roll can not be name-and-shamed in public, we can not reveal her details.

In a media statement released on Monday, Station Commander Brigadier Mashole Jacob Manamela sent his condolences to the Keleketu family and vowed to bring the suspect responsible for his death to book.

“We know that while domestic violence does not discriminate when it comes to gender, men seem to not report abuse in the same way as woman. It can be painful, confusing and make you feel ashamed, inadequate and isolated. Don’t become a victim of abuse and report whether you are a male or female,” Manamela said.
