Reaction Unit SA (Rusa) reported that the armed robbery occurred at a church located on Spring Road in Tea Estate, Durban. The live stream was being viewed by people in both South Africa and India as the events unfolded.

According to RUSA head Prem Balram, five armed suspects entered the church and immediately held up members of the congregation. The suspects were armed and dangerous, causing panic and fear among those present.

Confrontation with the Pastor

During the terrifying ordeal, viewers of the live stream watched as one of the gunmen pointed his firearm at the pastor. The pastor, in an attempt to avoid any harm, cooperated with the robber as he searched his pockets.

The distressing moment was caught on camera, shocking viewers across the world.

As the robbery unfolded, the suspects made off with valuables stolen from the congregation. Additionally, the robbers managed to escape with three vehicles belonging to churchgoers, making their crime even more audacious.

During the robbery, chaos ensued as the gunman casually removed a tablet the pastor had been using to read his sermon. Adding to the disarray, the robber kicked over a speaker before calmly leaving the scene.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported during the robbery. Despite the terrifying nature of the incident, all members of the congregation and church staff emerged physically unharmed.

Following the incident, RUSA managed to recover a maroon Toyota Corolla, which was found abandoned in Amatikwe, Inanda. Another vehicle, a GWM Steed, was recovered by Netstar approximately one kilometre away from the scene.

However, authorities are yet to locate a white GWM Hover with registration NT51979.
