Suspects in Disebo Mosupa murder: Here’s what we know
On Sunday, 21 July 2024, around 18:00, an intelligence-led operation directed the Bloemfontein Tactical Response Team and Mangaung Detectives to a house in Phase 4, Bloemfontein, where they apprehended a 42-year-old suspect.
This arrest followed the discovery of Mosupa’s body in a used grave at the Welkom cemetery, exhumed by forensic investigators.
The first suspect, aged 37, is scheduled to appear in the Welkom magistrate court for murder charges, on Monday.
The second suspect, arrested in Bloemfontein, will also make his initial court appearance in Welkom later on the same day.
Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Baile Motswenyane expressed gratitude to the community for providing crucial information that led to the suspect’s capture.
“We would like to thank our community for providing necessary information which made it possible for the police to trace this second suspect,” Motswenyane said.
Mosupa murder investigation: What we know so far
Mosupa was reported missing on Friday, 12 July 2024, initiating an extensive search by her family, friends, and authorities.
Her father had visited her residence on Sunday, 14 July 2024, only to find the doors locked and no sign of her.
The following day, he returned to discover the doors open and the house ransacked, which escalated the urgency of the search.
Despite intensive searches and public appeals, Mosupa’s whereabouts remained unknown until her body was found buried in a cemetery.
The exact circumstances of her disappearance and death are still under investigation, with authorities working diligently to uncover the details surrounding her tragic end.
