According to sources, Machitje was shot, leading to his untimely death.
Machitje left his home around 17:00 on Monday, intending to travel to the Eastern Cape, but he never arrived.
His disappearance prompted an immediate response from law enforcement and private security teams.
The police opened a missing persons case and began the search for Machitje.
Authorities traced Machitje’s vehicle to Alexandra in Johannesburg.
During the investigation, police and private security teams located the car and arrested a 53-year-old suspect found in possession of the stolen vehicle.
The suspect’s involvement in Machitje’s abduction and death is currently under investigation.
Police spokesperson Noxolo Kweza confirmed the developments, stating that the missing persons case had progressed with the discovery of Machitje’s body and the arrest of the suspect.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding Machitje’s death.
