A mother from Crossroad Village, Peddie, was arrested for allegedly assaulting and burning her two-year-old son to death.

Peddie mom makes first court appearance for killing two-year-old son

On Monday, 8 July 2024, police were alerted by community members about a tragic incident involving a 41-year-old mother who allegedly assaulted and set her two-year-old son on fire in Crossroad Village.

Upon arrival, police found the body of the toddler, who had sustained assault injuries and third-degree burns.

According to reports, the horrific incident was witnessed by the mother’s seven-year-old daughter, who then informed the community about what had happened.

The young girl is now in the care of a family member.

The mother was promptly arrested on charges of murder.

The suspect was due to make her first appearance in the Peddie Magistrate Court on Wednesday.
