A 22-year-old Midrand woman accused of killing her boyfriend is set to make her third appearance at the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court.
The case has gripped the public after disturbing videos and audio recordings surfaced online, allegedly linked to the moments leading up to the fatal incident.
According to police, the victim, 31-year-old Xichavo Ntsanwisi, was found in the early hours of Monday, 22 September 2025, lying on the kitchen floor of a house at Colnbrook Estate in Noordwyk, Midrand.
He had a deep stab wound to the upper chest near his neck. A knife with a yellow handle was discovered next to his body.
“Police received a complaint of a stabbing in Midrand. On arrival, police found a man with a stab wound on the upper body. Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of a woman who was reported to be the girlfriend of the deceased,” said police spokesperson Sergeant Mavela Masondo.
Ntsanwisi was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.
The suspect was arrested immediately and has already made two court appearances. On Friday, she returns for a third appearance, while members of the community continue to protest outside court, calling for her bail to be denied.
Shortly after the Midrand stabbing, a video circulated on social media showing the suspect speaking about her state of mind. In the clip, she expresses frustration over her boyfriend preparing to go out with friends and ends the video by making a throat-slitting gesture.
Another leaked voice recording captures the couple in a heated argument, followed by noises of a scuffle. Moments later, Ntsanwisi is heard in what police believe were his final moments alive.
Authorities confirmed that both the video and the audio recordings will form part of the evidence in court. However, the court has barred the media from revealing the woman’s name until official approval is granted.
Friends and relatives of Ntsanwisi, who worked at the Greater Giyani Municipality and was originally from Mhinga village outside Malamulele, described him as a hardworking public servant.
Many expressed disbelief that the tragedy happened just a day after the couple was seen enjoying themselves at the DStv Delicious Festival.
Police have urged the public to allow the legal process to continue without interference, stressing that investigations are ongoing.
The next court session is expected to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the case.
