The sixth day of proceedings featured testimony from Constable Refilwe Sekhobe, civilian witness Namhla Tinzi, family acquaintance Ms Andrews, and state witness Mrs Carlien Zeegers.
Their statements provided additional context regarding the events leading up to and following Joshlin’s disappearance.
Sekhobe described her interviews with key individuals, including Lourentia Lombaard and Steveno van Rhyn.
She noted inconsistencies in Steveno’s statements and detailed attempts to investigate claims that Joshlin had been sold to a sangoma.
Tinzi recounted assisting in the initial search efforts, describing Kelly Smith’s movements and interactions with others on the night Joshlin went missing.
Ms Andrews, who had known Kelly for over two decades, testified about Kelly’s parenting and past attempts to place Joshlin in her care.
Meanwhile, Zeegers described Kelly’s routine and noted unusual behaviour on 19 February 2024.
As the trial enters its seventh day, the State is set to introduce a new witness expected to testify against Kelly Smith and her co-accused.
The witness’s testimony may offer further details about the case as proceedings continue with cross-examinations and new evidence presentations.
