Hennops River officers funeral details confirmed

The official funerals will take place on separate dates between 8 and 10 May 2025.

The three fallen police constables whose bodies were recovered at the Hennops River in Pretoria earlier this week, will be honoured with official funerals.

This follows a meeting held between the families of the late constables Cebekhulu Linda (24), Boipelo Senoge (24), and Keamogetswe Buys (30), the Premier of the Free State, Maqueen Letsoha-Mathae and the Provincial Commissioner of Police in the Free State, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane.

“The South African Police Service [SAPS] and the Free State Provincial Government extend deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the fallen members. Their passing touched the country deep, but their dedication and contribution will never be forgotten,” the SAPS and the Office of the Premier in the Free State said in a joint statement.

The official funerals will take place on separate dates between 8 and 10 May 2025.

The details for each funeral are as follows:

Constable Boipelo Senoge

  • Date: Thursday, 8 May 2025
  • Time: 08:00 -11:00 
  • Venue: St Peter Anglican Church, Rocklands, Mangaung
  • Cemetery: South Park Cemetery

Constable Cebekhulu Linda

  • Date: Friday, 9 May 2025
  • Time: 08:00 -11:00 
  • Venue: (to be confirmed)
  • Cemetery: Magengenene; Mangaung

Constable Keamogetswe Buys

  • Date: Saturday, 10 May 2025
  • Time: 08:00 -11:00 
  • Venue: (to be confirmed)
  • Cemetery: Thaba Nchu

“In tribute to the dedication and service of the late constables, a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, 06 May 2025, in Bloemfontein. The memorial service will be held at Bobbiespark, 02 Hannah Street, Bloemfontein.”

The service is expected to get underway at midday.

The constables went missing on Wednesday, 23 April 2025. The officers were on their way to Limpopo.

On Thursday, police recovered the Volkswagen Polo in which the off-duty officers had been travelling in.

On Saturday, police divers found the back part of the Polo that the three officers were travelling in.
