The robbery took place during a school award ceremony, with four suspects armed with firearms entering the premises and causing chaos.
Eyewitnesses reported that the robbers fired shots into the ceiling, which led to widespread panic and fear among the students, parents, and teachers present.
According to police spokesperson Captain Andre Beetge, the suspects stole 31 cellphones, two vehicles, a laptop, and audiovisual equipment.
The stolen vehicles were later found abandoned a short distance from the school.
“No one was injured during the incident,” Beetge confirmed.
A business robbery case has been opened at Motherwell police station, and the police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
No arrests have been made so far, and investigations are ongoing.
