A Cape Town mother has won more than R30 million in the Lotto Plus 1 draw, making her the latest multimillionaire from the Mother City.

The Cape Town mom won the lottery using a manual ticket selection worth R80, and matched all six numbers in Saturday’s Lotto Plus 1 jackpot, walking away with a staggering R30,211,138.30.
The winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, recently retired in 2024. She described her shock and disbelief upon realising she had won.
“I still can’t believe it. I keep looking at the numbers and thinking: Is this really happening to me?” she said.
The lucky ticket was bought at a retail shop in Cape Town. The mother of two had handpicked the numbers herself, rather than using the quick pick option often chosen by players.
Helping her daughters is high on her priority list. One of her main concerns has been her younger daughter’s daily commute using e-hailing services like Uber or Bolt.
“She uses e-hailing vehicles every day because she doesn’t have a car and I worry about her safety. Now, the first thing I’m doing is buying her a car. That will give me peace of mind,” she explained.
The rest of the money will be carefully invested to secure her future.
“I want to enjoy my retirement now. No stress, just peace. That’s my dream.”
Ithuba, the National Lottery operator, confirmed the win and praised the winner’s thoughtful use of her prize money.
CEO Charmaine Mabuza called her plans “heartwarming,” highlighting the personal impact that the lottery can have when used to uplift families.

The winning Lotto Plus 1 numbers for Saturday, 26 July 2025, were: 04, 07, 23, 28, 44, 46, and Bonus Ball 18.
This was the only ticket to match all six numbers.
