The footage reportedly shows Mogaila’s M2 BMW colliding with another vehicle carrying a mother and her two children in Tembisa.

The tragic crash, which occurred early this morning on Andrew Mapheto Road, left a nine-year-old child dead at the scene, while the mother and her 13-year-old were trapped in their car until emergency responders arrived.

While it’s still unclear if Mogaila himself was driving, the abandoned car, registered in his name, was found littered with bottles of alcohol, a suspicious white powder, and marijuana edibles.

Authorities are currently investigating, and a case of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving, and fleeing the scene has been opened.

The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department’s spokesperson, Thabiso Makgato, confirmed that no arrests have been made yet, but the soccer star is under scrutiny as police try to piece together what happened.

Shaune Mogaila, born in 1995, is well-known on the South African soccer scene as a skilled winger, now with Sekhukhune United.

His career began with Highlands Park, followed by a stint with TS Galaxy in 2020, where he endured a knee injury that briefly sidelined him.

In 2022, he joined Royal AM but later became a free agent in 2024.

Mogaila even debuted internationally at the 2023 COSAFA Cup, representing South Africa on the big stage.

However, this latest controversy could put his reputation and career in jeopardy as the investigation unfolds.
