Netizens launch petition to ban Tito Mboweni from cooking

The petition to stop Tito Mboweni from cooking is gaining momentum.

South African netizens have had it with former Finance Minister Tito Mboweni and his inadequate cooking skills.

South Africans want Tito Mboweni banned from cooking

Infamous for his unappetising ‘Pilchards’ dishes, Mboweni left users nauseated when, on Saturday, he posted images of his latest attempt at a seafood meal.

The former minister tried his hand at a Yellowtail concoction that included loads of garlic, badly cut tomatoes, green peppers and onions.

The dish was served with two slices of steamed bread and while the plating appeared tolerable, Twitter users were convinced it tasted awful.

Mboweni disagreed, however.

Perhaps, the trigger for many users came when the former minister shared images of the fish drowned in a murky and watery gravy.

A petition has since been launched calling for an intervention in “kitchen crimes committed by Tito Mboweni.”

“Nothing is safe. Everything gets cooked – chicken, fish & even the books. This ends now,” the petition read.

Some of the charges levelled against the former minister, in the petition, include:

  • making chicken look like it has a claim with the Road Accident Fund;
  • using enough garlic to single handedly destroy the entire Twilight franchise;
  • placing grenades to blow up tomatoes instead of using a knife;
  • somehow making fish look like the opening scene from a terribly scripted etv sci-fi alien movie;
  • religiously using cutlery found on Jan van Riebeek’s boat; and
  • somehow managing to make the cuisine on Survivor resemble Michelin Star quality

The petition has since garnered more than 351 out of 500 signatures.
