Exclusive images of the Springboks’ 30th anniversary kit have leaked ahead of the official launch, revealing a design inspired by the iconic 1995 World Cup win.

Exclusive visuals of the Springboks’ new kit, made to honour the 30th anniversary of their 1995 Rugby World Cup victory, have been leaked online.

LEAKED: Nike Springboks 30th anniversary kit

Sources with close ties to the design and marketing team exclusively shared the first renders of the anniversary kit, giving Swisher Post a sneak peek ahead of its official release this week.

The new away jersey, designed by Nike, will be available to the public starting Wednesday. According to sources familiar with the campaign, three other jerseys will be unveiled in the same campaign, including a long-sleeve retro version.

Design inspired by 1995 World Cup victory

The anniversary collection pays tribute to South Africa’s first Rugby World Cup win in 1995. That historic match, played at Ellis Park Stadium in Johannesburg, saw the Springboks defeat New Zealand 15–12 after extra time.

All of South Africa’s points were scored by fly-half Joel Stransky, who famously kicked the winning drop goal in the added minutes.

At the end of the match, then-president Nelson Mandela walked onto the field wearing a number 6 Springbok jersey and presented the Webb Ellis Cup to captain François Pienaar — a moment that has become a symbol of post-apartheid unity and remains one of the most iconic in sports history.

The leaked kit is reportedly rich in symbolism, drawing design elements from the classic 1995 jersey worn during that match.

The original green and gold colours, as well as the traditional Springbok logo, are expected to feature prominently.

A source with inside knowledge told Swisher Post:

“This campaign is about honouring the past while inspiring a new generation of fans.”

The Springboks’ 1995 campaign is remembered not just for the win, but also for the journey to the final.

South Africa beat Western Samoa in the quarter-finals and France in the semi-finals. The final match was the first World Cup game ever to go into extra time.

While Nike has not made an official announcement yet, the leaked visuals will surely draw a strong reaction from fans.

The kits will reportedly be available for purchase from Wednesday, 25 June 2025. More details, including pricing and the full range, are expected to be shared by Nike and SA Rugby in the coming days.
