Philadelphia Eagles beat Kansas City Chiefs to clinch Super Bowl
The win, which took place at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans where Kendrick Lamar broke the internet with a sizzling Halftime performance, avenged their Super Bowl LVII loss to the Chiefs and cemented Jalen Hurts’ status as one of the league’s top quarterbacks.
Hurts delivered an outstanding performance, earning Super Bowl MVP honours.
He completed 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing for 72 yards, setting a new Super Bowl record for a quarterback.
The Eagles’ defence played a pivotal role in the victory, holding the Chiefs to just 225 total yards and forcing three turnovers, including a crucial second-quarter pick-six by Cooper DeJean.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was emotional after the game, expressing gratitude for the team’s effort. “God has blessed us very much,” he told Fox’s Tom Rinaldi.
“You cannot be great without the greatness of others. It took everybody, every guy on each side of the ball.” He added.
“These guys did not want to let each other down… so it looks like we have some more celebrating to do.”
For the Chiefs, the loss ended their pursuit of a historic three-peat.
Patrick Mahomes struggled against the Eagles’ defensive pressure, finishing with 209 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
