SAA announces direct flights to Mauritius and these regional destinations

South African Airways announces new direct flights to Mauritius and regional destinations, with operational improvements and service expansions.

South African Airways (SAA) has announced the launch of direct flights to Mauritius, along with updates on regional routes and operational improvements. These developments are part of the airline’s efforts to rebuild its network and improve passenger experience.

SAA now flies directly to Mauritius

SAA confirmed that it now operates direct flights to Mauritius, a popular holiday destination known for its beaches and resorts. This new route offers travellers a more convenient way to reach the island without needing connecting flights.

The direct service reduces travel time and simplifies the journey for South Africans heading to the Indian Ocean nation.

National carrier provides updates on its operations

In addition to the Mauritius route, SAA continues to operate flights to key destinations in Africa. These include Harare (Zimbabwe), Windhoek (Namibia), Lusaka (Zambia), Lagos (Nigeria), Accra (Ghana), Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo), and Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe).

This shows that the airline is maintaining its regional presence while working towards further expansion.

The airline has also reintroduced its daily service between Johannesburg and Cape Town, one of the country’s busiest domestic routes. This move supports increased demand for travel between the two major cities.

SAA’s Acting Chief Commercial Officer, Tebogo Tsimane, highlighted the airline’s renewed focus on service quality. He noted that operational stability is key to restoring customer confidence.

“We are taking steps to ensure we run on time and deliver reliable services,” said Tsimane.

The airline has also made investments in customer service, including training staff to handle passenger needs more efficiently. This includes better communication during delays and improving service delivery onboard.

SAA has assured passengers that its safety standards remain high. The airline said it continues to comply with all international aviation safety regulations and performs regular maintenance checks on its aircraft.

These announcements come as the national carrier rebuilds following a period of financial and operational challenges.

SAA says it is committed to strengthening its route network and delivering a better flying experience.
