Canva users across the globe experienced service disruptions on Saturday, 21 June 2025, with reports of the platform being inaccessible through its website and app.
Canva is down: Here’s what we know
The outage, first reported at approximately 12:39 SAST, saw a sharp spike in user complaints on the online monitoring service, Down Detector. About 75% of the reported problems were related to the website, while 25% involved issues with Canva’s mobile app.
Despite widespread user complaints, Canva’s official status page still shows “All Systems Operational” as of Saturday afternoon.
The status page has not flagged any new incidents for 21 June. However, there were technical issues earlier in the week related to Canva’s MagicMedia video generation feature.
What users are experiencing
Many Canva users took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to voice their frustration over being unable to access or edit their projects. One user wrote:
“Spent 20+ hours on your AI website builder. Got a beautifully useless site that I can’t edit. Impressive. Fix it before everyone bounces.”
In response to such complaints, Canva’s social media support team has been replying with a generic message. It reads:
“We’re here to look into this and help you, Lili. We’ve checked everything on our end and it seems to be working fine. To troubleshoot the issue, you can try clearing your cache and cookies, checking your internet connection, or using a different device.”
So far, Canva has not issued an official statement about the outage.
Possible causes and recent updates
Although no reason for the outage has been confirmed, it comes just three days after Canva launched a new AI-powered video creation tool called “Create a Video Clip.”
This feature is powered by Google’s Veo 3 and is part of Canva’s efforts to enhance its video editing capabilities.
Earlier in the week, users reported issues with the MagicMedia video generation function, which was down from 19 June and was resolved by 20 June.
There is no indication that the current outage is linked to the recent tool update, but the timing has prompted questions among users.
