Rapper-turned-media-mogul Joe Budden had a few words for South African podcaster MacG following his viral moment with singer Ari Lennox.

Watch: Joe Budden weighs in on MacG-Ari Lennox saga

On Episode 505 of The Joe Budden Podcast, the retired rapper and his co-hosts, Parks, Ish and Ice, shared their respective two cents on the ‘predatory’ behaviour MacG exhibited in his interview with Lennox.

You will remember that all hell broke loose on social media last week when a snippet of the controversial interview, where MacG nonchalantly asks the R&B about her ‘body count’, went viral.

Charlamagne Tha God, in his reaction on The Breakfast Club, explained that perhaps, albeit MacG had not established enough rapport with Lennox to warrant such a question, the offence did not come from what was said, but, maybe, how it was framed.

Budden also chimed in on the situation after taking a week to do some research on the South African podcaster. According to the retired rapper, who made a career out of depression-inducing music, MacG is nothing more than a ‘shock jock’ whose ascension comes at the expense of others.

By definition, a shock jock is a media personality, usually a radio or talk show host, who expresses opinions in a deliberately offensive or provocative way. For these types of entertainers, there is a lot of currency in shock value.

Budden also discussed Lennox’s fractured relationship with her record label Dreamville. Watch the full episode below.
