The day will start with relatively mild temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius in the morning, gradually dropping to 15 degrees by 20:00.
The temperature will feel like 17 degrees in the morning and 14 degrees in the evening due to the wind chill.
Starting at 20:00, Cape Town will experience light precipitation of 0.1mm, escalating as a low-cut-off system moves in from the coast.
This weather system is expected to bring severe thunderstorms, with rainfall intensifying to 8.3mm in the city centre and reaching up to 12.4mm in regions such as Overberg and Cape Winelands.
In addition to the heavy rainfall, strong winds will accompany the thunderstorms.
Wind speeds are anticipated to reach 30km/hr on Tuesday afternoon, although they will reduce to about 14km/hr by the evening.
These conditions will persist throughout the night and into the early hours of Wednesday morning.
By mid-Wednesday, the heavy rainfall and thunderstorms will start to move toward the Eastern Cape coastline, bringing some relief to Cape Town.
While the South African Weather Service (SAWS) has yet to issue warnings for potential flash flooding, it is advised to secure outdoor items, avoid low-lying areas prone to flooding, and ensure that drainage systems are clear to prevent water accumulation.
Motorists should exercise caution, as roads may become slippery and visibility could be significantly reduced during the storms.
