Cassper Nyovest recently hosted a livestream that gave fans a look into his personal and professional life.
Watch: Cassper Nyovest brushes off belligerent Sol Phenduka
What stood out to many viewers was an awkward and uncomfortable exchange — or rather, a lack of one — between him and Sol Phenduka, the co-host of the controversial Podcast and Chill.
During the stream, Sol appeared visibly intoxicated. He attempted to greet or interact with Cassper, but was completely brushed off.
Cassper didn’t respond, acknowledge, or engage with Sol, despite being in the same space.
Some viewers described the moment as “cringe” or “tense,” pointing out that Cassper’s body language and facial expressions showed clear discomfort.
The behaviour did not go unnoticed by viewers, many of whom are now tying it to a larger issue involving Sol’s co-host, Macgyver Mukwevho — more widely known as MacG.
MacG is facing backlash for his recent comments on the podcast about media personality Minnie Dlamini. In the episode, MacG questioned Dlamini’s ability to maintain a relationship and made crude remarks about her private life.
He said:
“Why can’t she keep a man? There’s got to be something wrong with her — maybe her coochie smells or something… It happens, man, especially with the hot girl.”
The statement triggered a wave of public condemnation, with both individuals and organisations labelling it disrespectful and misogynistic.
Among those who responded was Dr Brian Monaisa, Dlamini’s former partner, who said:
“What cap (lie) is this? MacG and Sol have shown they have a real issue with successful women. I stand for the integrity of women. These hardworking, respectful individuals deserve better than to be attacked by little weasels.”
The Somandla Clothing and Nduzuzo Memela Foundation announced plans to file a formal complaint with the South African Human Rights Commission. The group cited the remarks as grounds for a case under online gender-based violence, a category defined by South Africa’s National Strategic Plan on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF).
Government officials also joined the conversation. Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Mmapaseka Steve Letsike, issued a statement calling MacG’s remarks “a harrowing demonstration of online gender-based violence,” and condemned the objectification of women.
Though Cassper Nyovest has not publicly commented on why he ignored Sol Phenduka, the timing of the incident has led some to believe it may be connected to the controversy surrounding MacG and the podcast.
