Popular Limpopo musician Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke, better known as Shebeshxt, is set to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 13 November 2025, following his arrest on two counts of attempted murder.
According to IOL, police arrested the Ambulance hitmaker on Wednesday morning in Bendor, outside Polokwane, during an intelligence-driven operation carried out by the Provincial Investigation Unit and the Provincial Tracking Team.
Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the arrest was linked to a shooting incident that occurred on 19 October 2025 along Witklip Street in Ladanna.
“It is alleged that the suspect had a confrontation with another motorist, during which he fired several shots at another vehicle, injuring a 34-year-old male occupant who was rushed to hospital with serious injuries,” Ledwaba said.
Detectives obtained a warrant of arrest on Tuesday, leading to the musician’s capture the following morning. Police also seized several of Shebeshxt’s vehicles for forensic analysis.
The case was initially opened at Westernburg SAPS before being transferred to the Provincial Investigation Unit.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembi Hadebe commended investigators for the swift arrest, saying:
“We are taking this matter very seriously, and a dedicated team was appointed to ensure that no stone is left unturned. The South African Police Service reiterates that no one is above the law, regardless of their social standing.”
Shebeshxt, who rose to fame with tracks such as Ke Di Shxt Malume, has a long history of violent altercations.
In May, he was captured on video attempting to stab a man with a large knife during a confrontation at a local club, sparking renewed public concern over his behaviour.
In 2022, he was charged with attempted murder in a separate case involving a stabbing in Lebowakgomo. The rapper has also faced multiple assault and firearm-related charges, and his bail was previously revoked following a string of violent incidents and two car crashes within six months, one of which resulted in the death of his nine-year-old daughter.
Police say investigations into the latest case are ongoing.
Shebeshxt remains in custody and will face a formal bail hearing later this week.
