This extends the period of uninterrupted power supply to 201 consecutive days since 26 March 2024.

What is the current state of the power system?

Eskom’s power system continues to operate efficiently, with ongoing improvements in operational performance. The Energy Availability Factor (EAF) averaged 61% over the past week, with top-performing stations such as Kusile and Duvha maintaining an EAF above 70%.

Over the past seven days, unplanned outages averaged 12,087MW, a significant improvement compared to the 15,065MW recorded during the same period last year.

Eskom stated, “today’s unplanned outages stand at 13,305MW, slightly higher than the summer 2024 base case, but well within manageable limits.”
