Eskom published the loadshedding schedule for the weekend starting on Friday, 16 June 2023, which forecasts no loadshedding during the day and Stage 3 outages in the evening.

In a statement, the power utility revealed Stage 3 loadshedding will remain in place from 16:00 on Friday until midnight. Thereafter, the outages will be suspended during the day, on Saturday and Sunday.

Update on breakdowns and available capacity

On Sunday, 11 June 2023, Eskom reported more than 16 115MW of generation capacity lost to breakdowns, with an additional 2 239MW offline due to several units placed out of commission for planned maintenance.

In the last 24 hours, Eskom’s generation fleet lost a generation unit each at Kriel and Hendrina power stations was taken out of service due to breakdowns, while delays in returning a generating unit at Grootvlei, Hendrina, Majuba and Tutuka power stations are contributing to the current capacity constraints.
