Megan Thee Stallion addresses claims of ‘new evidence’ in Tory Lanez case

Megan Thee Stallion has responded to Tory Lanez’s legal team after they presented new claims related to her 2020 shooting.

Megan Thee Stallion has issued a strong statement in response to claims by Tory Lanez’s legal team suggesting “new evidence” might change the outcome of his 2023 conviction for shooting her.

Megan Thee Stallion breaks her silence on Tory Lanez

On Thursday, 15 May 2025, Lanez’s support team, Unite the People, held a press conference revealing a sworn statement from Bradley James, a former driver and bodyguard for Kelsey Harris—Megan’s former friend.

According to the group, James claims to have overheard Harris admitting to firing the gun the night Megan was shot. The press briefing came as Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, remains in hospital recovering from a violent stabbing in prison.

The new claims prompted an emotional reaction from Megan, who took to Instagram to express her frustration.

“At what point are y’all gonna stop making me have to relive being shot BY TORY!?” she wrote.

Megan, born Megan Pete, went on to accuse Tory and his supporters of spreading lies and re-traumatiding her for years.

“Why in TF would ME… MEGAN THEE STALLION have to lie on this MF abt shooting me!?” she continued.

“TORY YOU SHOT ME!! Ain’t no new f**ing evidence. Y’all been saying the same sh*t for years.”

In 2023, Tory Lanez was found guilty on three felony charges, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm, after Megan testified he shot her during an argument inside a vehicle in July 2020.

Prosecutors presented text messages and a jail phone call in which Lanez apologised to Harris.

While Lanez’s DNA was not conclusively found on the weapon’s magazine, and only weakly matched the firearm itself, the jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict.

In January 2025, Megan filed for a permanent restraining order against Lanez, asking the court to bar him from contacting her under any circumstances. At the time, she cited continued emotional distress and online harassment from his supporters.

Despite the new claims from Lanez’s team—including the suggestion that Kelsey Harris’s DNA was never tested—Megan insists the evidence presented in court already confirmed his guilt.

“He ain’t dare get on that stand and deny he shot me,” she said.

Lanez is currently recovering after being stabbed 14 times by inmate Santino Casio at the California Correctional Institution. His team is now appealing to Governor Gavin Newsom for clemency or a full pardon.

“When he is discharged from hospital, we want him to go home, not back to prison,” Unite the People said.

Megan ended her statement by saying she’s stepping away from social media: “I’m off this silly ass internet sh*t, BYE.”
