Katy Perry part of celeb crew next on Blue Origin space trip

Katy Perry is set to join Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin mission, taking part in an upcoming spaceflight alongside a celebrity crew.

Pop superstar Katy Perry is preparing to swap concert stages for the edge of space.

Blue Origin is taking Katy Perry to space

The singer has been confirmed as one of the passengers on Jeff Bezos’ next Blue Origin spaceflight, making her the latest celebrity to venture beyond Earth’s atmosphere.

The upcoming mission, set to launch later this year, will also include Jeff Bezos’ fiancée, former news correspondent Lauren Sánchez, as well as TV host Gayle King. Blue Origin confirmed that Sánchez played a key role in selecting the crew for the flight, which will take off aboard the New Shepard rocket.

While an exact launch date hasn’t been announced, the company stated that the mission is scheduled for spring 2025. Perry, who is also gearing up for her Lifetimes Tour later this year, has yet to publicly comment on her space adventure.

Does Blue Origin actually go to space?

Unlike long-duration space missions to the International Space Station, Blue Origin’s flights are suborbital, meaning they offer passengers a brief but exhilarating experience of weightlessness before returning to Earth.

The New Shepard rocket takes passengers beyond the Kármán line, the internationally recognised boundary of space at 100 kilometres (62 miles) above sea level.

The journey lasts approximately 10 minutes, with only a few minutes spent in microgravity before the capsule descends back to the surface under parachutes.

Blue Origin has previously flown other high-profile figures, including actor William Shatner, NFL star Michael Strahan, and aviation pioneer Wally Funk.

The upcoming mission marks another step in the company’s goal of making space tourism more accessible to civilians—including celebrities looking for the ultimate bucket-list experience.

With Perry on board, fans are already speculating whether her hit song E.T. will finally get a space-themed music video.

Whether or not that happens, the pop star’s journey is sure to generate excitement as she prepares to trade gravity for a few minutes of floating above the planet.
