After months of speculation, former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and pop superstar Katy Perry appear to have confirmed their relationship.
The pair were spotted in Paris on Saturday, 25 October, celebrating Perry’s 41st birthday — and this time, they didn’t shy away from the cameras.
According to USA Today, Trudeau, 53, and Perry attended a cabaret show in Paris before being photographed holding hands as they exited the theatre. Perry wore a red evening gown with black heels, while Trudeau opted for a dark suit. The two smiled as they walked past photographers before getting into a waiting car.
Neither Perry nor Trudeau has made an official statement about their relationship, but this public appearance marks the first time they’ve been seen together since rumours began in July.
Their initial encounter drew attention when they were spotted dining privately at Le Violon, a well-known fine-dining restaurant in Montreal.
At the time, reports suggested that the dinner lasted about two hours and that restaurant staff described the pair as “kind and warm” but discreet. While no signs of affection were observed at the time, the sighting fuelled speculation online that the two were romantically involved.
The Montreal dinner coincided with Perry’s Lifetimes Tour stop in Canada, while Trudeau had recently stepped down as prime minister following a decline in political support.
Both had recently gone through major breakups — Perry with actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares a daughter, Daisy Dove, and Trudeau with his wife, Sophie Grégoire, after 18 years of marriage.
Perry’s representatives have not commented on the relationship, but sources close to the singer told USA Today that she is “enjoying life and focusing on herself after a difficult year.”
Those same sources described Trudeau as “supportive and charming,” saying the two “hit it off quickly.”
Trudeau, who led Canada from 2015 until his resignation earlier this year, has largely avoided public appearances since leaving office.
However, his recent outing with Perry in Paris suggests he is ready to re-enter public life — albeit in a more personal capacity.
The couple’s representatives have declined to respond to media requests for comment.
