The trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs continues today with the scheduled testimony of Mia, a former assistant to Combs and witness to multiple events discussed in court.
What to expect from Day 12 of the Diddy trial
Mia is expected to expand on the alleged 2013 assault at Cassie Ventura’s apartment, which was described in detail by Deonte Nash during Day 11.
Prosecutors anticipate that Mia’s account will add clarity and support to the narrative that Ventura endured repeated abuse, threats, and surveillance while in a relationship with Combs.
Also expected in the near term is testimony from radio host Enrique Santos, although the court has indicated Mia’s appearance may take up the entirety of today’s session.
Judge Subramanian is continuing to manage exhibit submissions and pre-trial filings, with prosecutors stating they are ahead of schedule and may cut down on their witness list.
What the court has heard thus far
Day 11 featured a detailed and graphic account of events from Deonte Nash, a celebrity stylist who worked closely with Cassie Ventura and Sean Combs from 2008 onward.
Nash described a series of alleged violent episodes and control over Cassie by Combs. Among the incidents was an alleged firebombing at Kid Cudi’s home, investigated by LAPD officer Christopher Ignacio and LA Fire Department arson investigator Lance Jimenez.
Officer Ignacio recounted responding to a 911 call at the Hollywood Hills property in December 2011.
He testified to observing a black Escalade leave the scene suspiciously and noted that the vehicle was registered to Bad Boy Records.
Upon entering the home, Ignacio and his partner found luxury items strewn about. Ignacio later confirmed the arrival of Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi) in a Porsche and noted tension in his demeanour.
Investigator Jimenez testified that the Porsche had been damaged by a Molotov cocktail, with evidence including a designer scarf used as a wick and a lighter found at the scene.
Jimenez described the attack as targeted and noted that a partial DNA profile consistent with a female was recovered from a bottle at the site. However, he could not interpret the significance of the DNA results and stated that fingerprint evidence had been destroyed by LAPD in 2012.
The judge later instructed the jury to disregard all testimony regarding fingerprint destruction after a mistrial request was denied.
Nash, testifying under subpoena, described working for both Combs and Ventura. He stated that Combs frequently insulted, degraded, and assaulted Ventura, including dragging her by her hair, slapping her, and threatening to distribute sex tapes without her consent.
Nash also described being assaulted himself, including being thrown against a car and choked by Combs.
Nash claimed that Ventura often hid from Combs and that he, along with others, had to help her escape from various situations.
