According to reports, Stone was travelling in a van with nine other passengers when the vehicle overturned and was subsequently struck by a large truck.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other passengers sustained non-fatal injuries.
Deborah R. Champagne, Stone’s publicist, confirmed her passing, stating that she had spoken with the singer hours before the fatal crash. The accident occurred as Stone was returning to Atlanta following a performance.
Music producer Walter Millsap III, who worked with Stone, provided further details, stating that the vehicle rolled over before being hit by a big rig.

Born Angela Laverne Brown on 18 December 1961, in Columbia, South Carolina, Angie Stone began her musical career in gospel music before transitioning into hip-hop and R&B.
In the late 1970s, she was a founding member of The Sequence, one of the first female hip-hop groups, known for the hit “Funk You Up.”
She later joined the R&B trio Vertical Hold before launching a successful solo career. Her debut album, Black Diamond (1999), produced the hit single No More Rain (In This Cloud) and was certified gold.
Stone’s 2001 album Mahogany Soul featured one of her most well-known songs, Wish I Didn’t Miss You, which became an R&B staple.
