American Music Awards 2025: Here’s the complete winners list

South African star Tyla added a major international accolade to her name on Monday night, winning the award for Favourite Afrobeats Artist at the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs).

What went down at the 2025 AMAs

The ceremony, held on Monday, 26 May 2025 and broadcast live on CBS, recognised the year’s top music acts as voted by fans, with artists across pop, hip-hop, country, R&B, and global genres receiving honours.

Tyla, who has become a global sensation for her genre-blending sound rooted in amapiano and Afrobeats, joins the growing list of African artists making waves on the international music scene.

Her recognition at the AMAs marks a milestone for South African representation at one of the biggest fan-voted awards shows in the world.

While Tyla celebrated a career-defining moment, the night belonged to Billie Eilish, who swept all seven categories in which she was nominated. Eilish took home Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, and Song of the Year for BIRDS OF A FEATHER.

She also picked up Favourite Female Pop Artist, Favourite Pop Song, and Favourite Touring Artist, among other top honors.

Gracie Abrams was named New Artist of the Year, while Doechii won Social Song of the Year for Anxiety. In the R&B category, SZA earned two major wins: Favourite Female R&B Artist and Favourite R&B Song for Saturn.

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars were joint winners in two high-profile categories: Collaboration of the Year and Favourite Music Video for Die With A Smile.

Bruno also picked up the award for Favourite Male Pop Artist, and Gaga claimed Favourite Dance/Electronic Artist.

In the hip-hop field, Eminem reasserted his dominance, winning Favourite Male Hip-Hop Artist and Favourite Hip-Hop Album for The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us took home the award for Favourite Hip-Hop Song.

Beyoncé’s country music crossover album Cowboy Carter earned her two wins — Favourite Female Country Artist and Favourite Country Album.

Post Malone was named Favourite Male Country Artist and also took home Favourite Country Song for his collaboration with Morgan Wallen on I Had Some Help.

The Weeknd earned awards for Favourite Male R&B Artist and Favourite R&B Album (Hurry Up Tomorrow), while Bad Bunny and Shakira were among the top Latin music winners.
