adidas teams up with atmos and BAPE to release a glow-in-the-dark Superstar sneaker—here’s what it looks like and how to buy it in South Africa.

This three-way collaboration celebrates atmos’ 25th anniversary in 2025 and reimagines the classic adidas Superstar with futuristic details and a glow-in-the-dark twist.

The standout feature of this sneaker is its glow-in-the-dark design. When exposed to light and later viewed in the dark, parts of the shoe glow with a snakeskin-like effect.

This glowing feature appears on the Three Stripes logo on the left shoe, the BAPE star logo on the right shoe, and the heel overlay—giving the sneakers a visually striking look.

The shoe’s upper is primarily black, made from premium leather embossed with BAPE’s well-known ABC camo pattern. On the midfoot, you’ll find co-branded detailing, including the classic “Superstar” and “A Bathing Ape” text.

The insoles carry logos from all three collaborators—adidas, atmos, and BAPE—while the golden lace dubrae on the left shoe carries the atmos logo for added flair.

Creative Director of atmos, Hirofumi Kojima, teased this collaboration online before its release, drawing excitement from sneaker collectors around the world. atmos has previously released sneakers with glow-in-the-dark elements, but this Superstar collaboration adds a luxe and bold new chapter to its glow lineup.

The shoe officially debuted at atmoscon—atmos’ exclusive event held on 19 and 20 April 2025. A broader release followed via atmos’ official online and in-store platforms on Friday, 2 May 2025.

The retail price is set at $190 and it’s available in men’s sizes.

How to buy the ‘Superstar’ atmos BAPE in South Africa

South African buyers interested in the Superstar atmos BAPE should prepare for an international order.

Buyers should also account for:

  • Shipping Costs: International fees may range between R500 to R1,000.
  • Import Duties: South African customs may charge up to 40% of the purchase value.
  • Payment: Ensure your bank allows international purchases and be aware of any foreign exchange fees.
