Senzo Meyiwa trial: Testimonies, live stream on Thursday, 12 June 2025

The court continues examining photos of accused Bongani Ntanzi and Muzi Sibiya as Warrant Officer Elton Ndlovu testifies in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial.

The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial continues today, Thursday, 12 June 2025, at the Pretoria High Court, with further testimony from Warrant Officer Elton Ndlovu.

What to expect from the Senzo Meyiwa trial today

The court is focused on examining photographic evidence of accused persons, particularly Bongani Ntanzi and Muzi Sibiya, which was extracted from a memory card obtained during the investigation.

The evidence presented in court includes multiple images showing Ntanzi with an O-shaped beard and wearing various clothing items, such as a grey hoodie and a golf t-shirt with the collar turned up.

These descriptions have drawn attention due to their similarity to those given by witnesses during earlier testimony. For example, Constable Sizwe Zungu had previously testified that one of the intruders on the night of the murder wore a red t-shirt—a detail now seen in one of the images.

Ndlovu also described a picture showing Ntanzi lying on a bed, clearly revealing his facial features and beard. Another photo showed Ntanzi in a grey hoodie, a style frequently mentioned by witnesses in their accounts of the alleged attackers.

This photographic detail is significant, as it may support or challenge earlier testimony.

Attention then shifted to Muzi Sibiya, accused number one, when an image was shown featuring two men—one wearing a red cap and short-sleeved shirt holding a tin, and the other in a white t-shirt and sunglasses, with a gold-colored watch.

Advocate Charles Mnisi, representing Sibiya, highlighted that one of the individuals in the photo appeared to be his client, although Warrant Officer Ndlovu stated he had not previously identified the person as Sibiya.

Another image presented showed what Ndlovu described as three black firearms, along with bullets—approximately 15 to 20—in a case and placed in front of the weapons. The photograph was reportedly deleted from the original source but was recovered during forensic analysis.

Mnisi began his cross-examination, pointing out that although Ndlovu had been asked to extract data linked to accused number two, Bongani Ntanzi, images of Sibiya were also found among the files.

Ndlovu responded that he was unaware of this and that it was the first time he had heard of such content being included.

The defence’s scrutiny continues today, with further questioning expected around the origin, context, and relevance of the images shown in court. The metadata attached to each image, which includes the date, time, and device used to capture the photo, may play a key role in verifying the claims.
