Khayelitsha rocked by triple murder: Here’s what we can confirm

According to initial reports, SAPS responded to a murder complaint at around 20:20 on Sunday evening, discovering a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound lying in a passageway in Site C.

Not far from the scene, officers found the bodies of two women, also in their twenties, inside a shack, each with gunshot wounds.

At this time, the motive remains unclear, and the Provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit is working to trace those responsible.

The murders come amid a series of violent incidents in the Western Cape, amplifying concerns over safety in the region.

The Khayelitsha tragedy follows two other high-profile shootings in nearby areas.

In Bishop Lavis, seven people were shot and killed on Thursday night. Police have since arrested three suspects, aged 17, 24, and 29, after an intense tracing operation by the SAPS Western Cape multidisciplinary team.

During the arrests, authorities seized a firearm that has since been sent for ballistic testing to determine if it was involved in any recent crimes.

The suspects face charges including murder, attempted murder, and possession of an unlicensed firearm, and are expected to appear in court on Monday.

Meanwhile, investigations into the Atlantis shooting on Wednesday evening, which also claimed multiple lives, are ongoing.

No arrests have been made in that case, though additional police deployments have been stationed in the area to enhance safety and prevent further violence.
