A tragic incident unfolded just after 07:40 am today when a cash-in-transit heist resulted in the death of a security guard in Durban.

The incident occurred at the corner of Bertha Mkhize and Joe Slovo Street in the Durban CBD.
Emergency services, including ALS Paramedics, SAPS, Metro Police, and SAPS Search and Rescue officers, quickly responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, paramedics found the injured security guard lying on the pavement next to the cash-in-transit vehicle.
He had sustained a serious gunshot wound to his upper body.
Advanced Life Support Paramedics stabilised him on the scene before rushing him to a nearby hospital for further care.
Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, the guard succumbed to his injuries.

The details surrounding the shooting remain unclear at this stage, and the SAPS are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the sequence of events that led to this violent encounter.
Authorities are working diligently to gather evidence and piece together the circumstances of the heist.
