Cape Town police launch manhunt for suspects linked to V&A Waterfront jewellery heist

Cape Town police are searching for four suspects linked to a R1.35 million jewellery heist at the V&A Waterfront and have released CCTV images.

Cape Town police are calling on the public to help track down four suspects linked to a jewellery store heist at the V&A Waterfront’s Alfred Mall.

The robbery, which took place on 22 February 2025, has yielded no solid leads, prompting authorities to release CCTV images of the individuals they believe can assist in the investigation.

What police revealed about the suspects

Table Bay SAPS has confirmed that they are searching for three women and one man suspected of involvement in the theft. Police have released images captured from store security footage in the hopes that someone will come forward with information on their identities or whereabouts.

According to police reports, the four suspects entered the high-end jewellery store around 13:00, posing as customers.

The women requested to try on pieces while engaging the shop assistant in conversation. After seemingly browsing and trying on jewellery, the group left without making any purchases.

However, minutes later, they returned under the guise of wanting a second look at a pendant.

As the shop assistant was occupied returning items to the display cases, the suspects allegedly made their move.

By the time they left, two rings and a pendant—valued at R1.35 million—were missing.

It was only after they had left the premises that the shop assistant realised the items had been stolen. Security was alerted immediately, but by then, the suspects had already exited the V&A Waterfront.

The nature of the robbery suggests that the suspects operated with precision and planning, making off with the jewellery without raising any suspicion at the time.

The theft, which took place in broad daylight at one of Cape Town’s busiest shopping and tourist hubs, has left police scrambling for answers.

Law enforcement officials are now relying on public assistance to track down the four individuals.

They are urging anyone with relevant information to contact their nearest police station.
