The Disaster Risk Management Centre reported that the Fire and Rescue Service received an emergency call at around 23:20 on Wednesday night, regarding roofs being blown off in Wynberg and damage to overhead electrical wires.
Spokesperson Sonica Lategan confirmed that the occupants of the affected properties have been relocated to alternative accommodations.
“Crews from Constantia responded to the incident and found four houses affected at the corner of Sussex and Bute Roads,” said Lategan.
The City assured that the Disaster Risk Management Centre will conduct further investigations and assessments this morning to evaluate the extent of the damage.
The strong winds not only destroyed the roofs of these homes but also disrupted power supply in the area, leaving many residents without electricity.
