Day 3 of Comic-Con Cape Town 2025 delivered a packed schedule that blended star power, comic artistry, and fan-favourite cosplay action.
Main highlights from Day 3
The Main Stage was once again a key attraction with several celebrity appearances drawing large crowds.
Zach Aguilar, the voice actor known for Tanjiro in Demon Slayer, returned for another fan Q&A, offering insights into the voice acting industry.
Right after, fans of the Star Wars franchise were treated to a special appearance by Ian McDiarmid, known for his role as Emperor Palpatine. He shared stories from his time on set and reflected on the lasting impact of the films.
“There’s nothing like feeling the love of fans face-to-face,” McDiarmid said during his session.
Anime YouTubers Aki Dearest and The Anime Man also took the stage, keeping the energy high with humorous tales and audience interaction. Meanwhile, Battlestar Galactica star Michael Trucco joined the spotlight line-up, speaking candidly about his career and connection to the sci-fi community.
The cosplay community came out in full force. Attendees dressed as everything from anime favourites to Marvel heroes participated in multiple cosplay competitions throughout the day.
The WCS and Extreme Cosplay Gather brought out some of the weekend’s most impressive costumes, with judges praising creativity and craftsmanship.
Comic book lovers had a wealth of content to explore, including the Art of the Comic Book Cover session and portfolio reviews by Jim Cheung. South African creators were also featured in panel discussions and new comic book launches, shining a spotlight on local talent.
At KidsCon, young fans enjoyed live character meet-and-greets with Mario & Luigi, the Smurfs, Noodle and Bun, and Geoffrey the Giraffe. Families also flocked to the toy zones and racing games.
For music and dance enthusiasts, the Poptaku Stage hosted the high-energy C2K K-Pop Dance Performance and the fan-favourite So You Think You Can K-Pop? contest.
The evening ended with the Street Trash film screening and a superhero/villain meet and mingle.
What to expect from Comic-Con Cape Town Day 4
Day 4, the final day of Comic-Con Cape Town 2025, promises a strong finish to the event, with another fan briefing from DJ Elliot kicking off the morning.
Highlights include more meet-and-greets with characters like Geoffrey and Noodle & Bun, another Casual Cosplay Competition, and the continuation of African short film showcases.
Local comic artists and emerging creators will continue to be featured, giving fans a chance to interact with illustrators and writers.
Tabletop games, anime panels, and the ever-popular KidsCon zone remain open to round off the Comic-Con Cape Town weekend with something for every kind of fan.
